Springing Aspen
Meet Aspen
Introducing Austin Chesapeakes Springing Aspen . . .
Beautiful, sweet, smart, playful, and fetch-loving Aspen (SS32456202) is the daughter of Sierra (sired by GCH CH Monarch’s Bring Me to Life ~ SS08729001 “Evan”), granddaughter of Cheyenne (sired by CH Xanadu Rooster Cogburn at GE ~ SR68030801 “Rooster”), and the third generation of our champion bloodline of purebred Austin Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.
This girl was born to retrieve. As a pup, Aspen loved tennis balls—she almost always carries one with her. She even stashes them in the yard for later use. And our Aspen girl knows how to send us “fetch vibes.” Her cute, convincing “please play fetch with me” face is hard to resist. But even good dogs must learn to “wait.” She doesn’t lose hope. Fetch will happen . . . even if it’s dark. There is such a thing as “night fetch,” ya know.
Day or night, Aspen retrieves with the energy of an Energizer Bunny—a real fetching machine. She loves to leap in the air for a ball, and we joke that she earns “style points” for her bold moves. This trait is reflected in her registered name: Austin Chesapeake’s Springing Aspen.
Now, as a soon-to-be mom, not even a womb full of puppies can stop her from running for another ball and “giving” it back to the thrower. Without a doubt, Aspen’s love language is fetch.
She was a Grandma’s girl before Cheyenne passed away on December 27, 2024, just two days after Christmas. They shared almost three years together, often lying side by side in the kitchen, eagerly awaiting “munchies” (trimmed edges of carrots, celery, kale, and cabbage) while I prepared a lunch smoothie for my husband and me. When Aspen was a puppy, Cheyenne helped Sierra by giving “diaper changes” and cleaning up an occasional accident. In Cheyenne’s last days, Aspen returned the love, gently licking her paw. Aspen learned many things from Grandma Cheyenne—how to eat plants through the fence, bark at delivery trucks, and swim in the lake or creek.

(Hagen & Owner)
In January 2025, we bred Aspen (the "bride") to her "husband," Hagen, from Marks-a-Lot Kennels in Caddo Mills, TX. He is a show champion and master hunter.
We are super excited about this pairing! With Hagen’s seasoned hunting experience and Aspen’s fetch-loving, family-friendly personality, these pups should be born ready to fit into an active, loving forever family eight weeks after birth. We can’t wait to meet the puppies, see Sierra become a grandma, and support Aspen as she steps into motherhood with her own fur babies!
